Our ethical standards and principles
BioMolenez is founded on strong ethical values that guide our every action. We are proud to be part of concrete measures to preserve marine biodiversity, support local communities and protect natural resources.
"We are not outside of nature; we are in it and of it. We are part of the community of life, upon which we depend for every necessity of our existence. The natural world is not an external reality with which we must come to terms, but rather a community of beings with whom we share a common destiny. We must learn to live in harmony with the natural world rather than seek to dominate it."
Arne Naess
Since the foundation of “Océalys laboratoire” in 1993, the guiding principle of our present and future activities was defined as follows: Eco-design. « “Eco-design is a process in which each step of a product’s design, from raw material sourcing to finished product, takes into consideration the ecological impact of its production, ensuring that it causes no environmental degradation or harm to the consumer. The end result is a high-quality product (finished or intermediate) and a systematic exclusion of any non-natural substance or any substance that could have any harmful effects during the process.”
The facts related to climate change and the impact of human activity have fully vindicated, well before the blue economy of the 21st century, the minds that conceptualized and applied a different relationship between human activity and its environmental impact in order to meet its well-being needs.
BioMolenez was born from this desire not only to produce but to create.
To promote new ideas and dynamics that are in line with the specificities of the Molene Island and the Iroise Sea, which deserve a prominent place due to the quality of their contributions

Donations: Committing to the well-being of coastal communities and the protection of the sea
Commitment to the preservation and promotion of the wealth of our unique territories naturally extends to supporting associations;
To this end, we are proud to be able to […]
donate part of our revenue to organisations that share our values.
We have chosen to support the cultural organisation Inizi, whose mission is to preserve the maritime and cultural heritage of the Ponant islands where we harvest our seaweed. For every Algalys cosmetic product sold, we donate 0.50€ to this association to contribute to the valorization and transmission of this unique heritage.
We also decided to support the Société Nationale des Sauveteurs en Mer (SNSM), which is a vital organisation for the safety of sailors and boaters at sea. We also donate €0.50 from every cosmetic product sold to this organisation to help fund their rescue and prevention operations.
By supporting these organizations, we hope to actively participate in the protection of the environment and its actors, as well as in the transmission of our maritime cultural heritage.

Resource: Protecting seaweeds and the marine environment for future generations
Preserving marine resources is at the heart of our activity. We are committed to respecting the current harvesting quotas and working in collaboration with protected areas that are also our labels, the Marine Nature Park of Iroise and the UNESCO Man and Biosphere label, which are linked to the Iroise Sea.

Allow us to introduce our ecological project that is committed to promoting a sustainable blue bioeconomy and protecting the marine environment in Brittany and beyond. We aim to build a community of like-minded individuals who are willing to invest in the protection of our oceans, marine life and planet.
We focus on responsible harvesting, protection, and valorization of seaweed, which are vital for the health of the marine ecosystem.
By means of our research programs and partnerships with various ecological and scientific organizations, we seek to comprehend marine ecosystems and uncover ways to advance their ecological applications while safeguarding and replenishing threatened areas.
Inspiration: biomimetics
"Under the sea, you look for your past, you will discover your future"
Jean Cocteau
Our R&D Centre is inspired by the new perspectives offered by biomimetics by restoring the best in nature, the bio-economy or the blue economy or the circular economy by enhancing our French terroirs.
This interconnection of life and creation supports actions in favour of biodiversity and the well-being of our planet and ourselves.
To create innovative, sensory, creative, and high-performance active ingredients, designed as true essential rituals for maintaining the health of our skin.
Pioneering: organic certification
Biomolenez is a pioneer in the organic certification of marine algae, and today, it continues to innovate in the formulation of its 100% natural algae and plant extracts.
We have been valuing marine resources since our inception, including organic seaweeds and marine plants harvested by our partners in the Iroise Marine Natural Park, as well as clays and mother waters from salt marshes, microalgae cultivated by our oyster farmers or those grown in Oregon’s lake, halophytic plants from the seashore, and thermal springs like the Blue Lagoon in Iceland or the water of Caldane in Corsica
The plant world is also a continuous source of inspiration for us, such as the cider apple from Normandy, essential oils, or endemic plants from Corsica or Provence, turmeric from Reunion Island, ravelana butter from Madagascar, teas, plants used in traditional Chinese medicine, and more.
